This morning we noticed that a pride of lion had killed a hippo on the opposite side of the river in the Nsefu sector of the park. As we watched from our side of the bank we recognized the male as one of the Hollywood boys, not unusual as we know their territory extends across the river. As well as the male we also noticed a few other Hollywood members and from there just assumed that the whole Hollywood pride had crossed the river. That was until a scuffle broke out and we noticed that one of the females was wearing a collar and recognized her as a member of the Nsefu Pride.
After the disagreement the male along with the rest of the Nsefu pride made their way along the river and the Hollywoods crossed the Luangwa back to our side of the park. We know the Hollywood males service both prides but it was fascinating to see both sets of females sharing the kill.
