June 17th, by Meyam.
I started off from camp for the night drive and decided to start with the loop in the ebony grove. We spotted a Verreaux’s (Giant) Eagle Owl in the beautiful afternoon light. Owls are so beautiful and interesting to see, we found that it had some remains of a guinea fowl, that had been caught earlier. It was almost completely eaten already.
It was just amazing to see that this owl can catch prey the size of a guinea fowl. Not to disturb it any longer we left the sighting, after taking great photos of the owl holding on to its prey.
