Eliott the One Eyed Leopard
September 4th, 2010
Phil Branham was kind enough to send us this picture of Eliott the one-eyed leopard. So named after Pat’s Uncle who also had only one eye.
For those of you who are new to our newsletters this year we first met Eliott as a small cub just before the rains last year. He had been attacked by a resident male who killed his sister and hooked his eye out of the socket. We didn’t think he was going to make it through the rains so we were thrilled to find him still hanging out around Mwamba Bush Camp with his mum this year. He seems to be taking on his mother’s very relaxed nature and is very easy to spend time with.
Cheers for now
Mating Lions
September 3rd, 2010
It was during the night drive and being their first night at the camp when they had just explained to me that they had already visited two countries and had never seen mating lions. We were on the drive for about thirty minutes and just at Hippo hospital I saw a lion. I grabbed my binoculars to check properly on this lion and to see if there were any more. Indeed I saw a lioness. It didn’t take long and we say the male lion getting up and started moving around the lioness and soon after they started mating. My guests thought they were dreaming. They really could not believe what was happening. This mating pair is with the Hollywood Pride and this viewing really made their trip special.
Thanks
Gondwe
